Head coach of the Armenian national boxing team Davit Torosyan is content with his team’s bronze medal in the World Championship.
“Hovhannes Bachkov performed excellently in the European Championship and became the champion. He appeared in the World Championship a month later without having time for rest. Bachkov fought perfectly in Hamburg, defeating some strong athletes. Unfortunately, he lost to Cuban boxer, one of the strongest during this World Championship. We are content with Hovhannes Bachkov’s performance. The Armenian team hasn’t won any medal in the World Championship for a long time, so he deserves appreciation for this victory,” Davit Torosyan told Mediamax Sport.
He noted that Karen Tonakanyan also from the Armenian team performed satisfactory. He won a fight, but then lost to the athlete, who became the silver medalist.
“I am happy that we have recently incorporated modern training model in our work. We have registered successes and we will try to do even more,” the coach said.
