In 2016 Mediamax Sport presented plenty of exclusive and exciting articles, interviews and analytics to sport lovers in Armenia.

In fact, we even had a bit of trouble trying to select the best of them and conclude the year. Anyway, here are the publications that hold a meaningful place in sport life of 2016.

Sports Division Champions

Best sportsmen in Armenia serve in sport division, who had reached a lot of success in international sphere. But they are quite a lot different from what we are used to seeing in the field.

They are solders and they realize the responsibility of it. Of course they don’t spend the whole year as solders but they are still sport division solders and they inspire solders at the border with their victories and success.

The year will be quite filled for our solder-athletes. They have put new goals that they have  to achieve and try to add to their success. Although they will spend little time at the division, they will try to make up by succeeding in international field.

Women and problems they face in Armenian sport

Sport is essentially different for men and women in Armenia. Men are long-standing leaders by the number of achievements, salaries and contributions. Professional sport has much more problems in opening doors for women.

We decided to present the situation in several sports and reasons that prevent their development.

Levon Aronian: I seek the new, unlock secrets and multiple layers

Levon Aronian is one of the rare people you can talk with about everything. A curious, well-versed, informed company is the most important part though.

A cup of tea and simple talk turned into a conversation-study of chess, beauty, books and a deep reflection on everything.

Heroes from the Past: Armen Nazaryan and David Hambardzumyan

In Heroes from the Past series we presented Olympic champion Armen Nazaryan. In 1996 Armen Nazaryan, who was already twice European champion and kept the promise he gave to the coach, went to Olympic Games in Atlanta: “All my dreams came true on that day, I couldn’t believe it was happening to me. I was also infinitely proud, as I brought a very great and important medal for Armenia. On the whole, I won 8 medals for our country.”

Our next hero was Olympic bronze medalist David Hambardzumyan. Davit won a medal at his third Olympiad, but his family recall that the bronze was “just a consolation for him, as he could do more”.

Davit Hambardzumyan took the third place in the Olympic Games in 1980, becoming the only Armenian diver to win the Olympic bronze.

Artur Petrosyan: I couldn’t turn my back on the team in difficult time

It took former forward Artur Petrosyan to coach the Armenia team for just one game to become beloved as a manager too.

He gave Armenian football fans a new hope in the pilot match by giving them the forgotten taste of victory after 3 years of defeats and failed attempts.
