Silver medalist of Rio Olympic Games, Greco-Roman wrestler Mihran Harutyunyan will perform in MMA as well.
This was announced by MMA agent Rizvan Magomedov.
“I would like to share this great news with you. Famous wrestler Mihran Harutyunyan enters MMA, a new sphere for him. I am confident he will register successes in this sport. We will cooperate and do everything possible to have the best results,” Magomedov wrote on Instagram.
Vice-President of Wrestling Federation of Armenia Arsen Badalyan and Harutyunyan’s personal coach Samvel Gevorgyan told Mediamax Sport that the athlete will combine wrestling with mixed martial arts.
“Mihran’s health is the priority for us. We wish him soonest recovery,” Badalyan said.
“Mihran received an offer for fighting in MMA, and he accepted it, but that does not mean he is going to leave wrestling,” Gevorgyan said.
The athlete has not had competitions after Rio Olympic Games. He had several hand surgeries and is currently recovering.
