Sweden wins gold in Ice Hockey World Championship

The 2017 Ice Hockey World Championship was held in Cologne, Germany, and Paris, France. Sweden won the gold for the first time since 2013.

In the final the Swedes beat Canada, the winner of the last two championships. The intense game’s outcome was decided in a shootout. Sweden managed to win 2:1, claiming their 10th title.

The bronze went to the Russian team after they defeated Finland.



The ultimate team of the Ice Hockey World Championship included Andrei Vasilevskiy (Russia), Colton Parayko (Canada), Dennis Seidenberg (Germany), Artemy Panarin (Russia), William Nylander (Sweden) and Nathan Macintosh (Canada).

Vasilevskiy, Seidenberg and Panarin were recognized the best players.

More than 600,000 people in total came to watch the championship. In this regard, Paris and Cologne concede only to the 2015 Ice Hockey World Championship (attended by around 742,000 fans).
