Photographs help us recall stories from the past. This time, In One Shot series tells about an event in Armenian football.

The photo was made in Yerevan, 2012.

On November 12, 2012, Armenia-Lithuania (4:2) friendly match took place at Vazgen Sargsyan stadium.

On the same day, the long-standing captain of Armenian team Sargis Hovsepyan bid farewell to his career in football. He played with the national team for 20 years, participating in 131 games.

“I realized that it is time to leave. I am grateful to every fan who’s been with me,” Hovsepyan said.

He handed over the captain’s armband to goalkeeper Roman Berezovsky. The most promising member of our team defended the goal in 93 games, doing the possible and the impossible to help the team and earning the most important thing – the fans’ sympathy.

At present, our most experienced footballers are no longer on the Armenia team. However, many football lovers still remember this photo and the footballers’ games.
