Levon Aronian played against Boris Gelfand (Israel) in the first round. The game ended in a draw.
The only winner of the first round is Ian Nepomniachtchi, who defeated Evgeny Tomashevsky. Peter Svidler -Vladimir Kramnik, Anish Giri - Viswanathan Anand and Shakhriyar Mamedyarov - Li Chao pairs also drew their games.
Aronian will compete against Tomashevsky today.
