Armenian boxers to head to European Championship on June 14

On June 14, Armenian boxing team will arrive in Kharkiv to take part in the 2017 EUBC European Boxing Championships.

Mediamax Sport visited the team’s training camp in Yerevan and talked with manager Davit Torosyan.

The head coach noted he tried to prepare the team the best he could after his appointment this January.

“The boys are in good shape and have expectations from the European Championship. I believe they can achieve great results. I selected the team depending on the athletes’ readiness and physical shape. Three athletes from our team already participate in professional fights, and one of them, Narek Abgaryan, will perform in the championship too. Aram Avagyan and Gor Yeritsyan will miss the competition for various reasons,” Torosyan said.

The athletes that will represent Armenia in the European Boxing Championships are Artur Hovhannisyan (49kg), Narek Abgaryan (52kg), Karen Tonakanyan (60kg), Hovhannes Bachkov (64kg), Vladimir Margaryan (69kg), Arman Darchinyan (75kg), Narek Manasyan (91kg), and Gurgen Hovhannisyan (91+kg).
