Stepan Sargsyan Cup kicks off in Vanadzor

The 24th international Stepan Sargsyan Cup has kicked off in Vanadzor. The participants are freestyle wrestlers from 6 countries: Armenia, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Georgia and Kazakhstan.

Russia and Kazakhstan have brought large squads of around 50 and 30 athletes respectively, which include World and Europe winners and medalists.

The only Armenian athletes missing the tournament are U23 European champion Vazgen Tevanyan and World, Europe champion Davit Safaryan, who are injured, General Secretary of the Armenian Wrestling Federation Arayik Baghdadyan has told Mediamax Sport.

The results of the Stepan Sargsyan Cup will which Armenian athletes are going to compete in the World Championship in Kazakhstan this September.
