The Armenian divers will have a saturated schedule in 2019.
According to the team’s Head Coach Hrachya Chandiryan, the athletes will first compete in Universiade, then World Championship and in the European Championship in around 10 days.
“World Championship will give athletes the opportunity to qualify for the Olympic Games. The qualification will be successful for those synchronized divers, who take 1-3 places. 12 finalists will qualify for the Olympics in individual diving. Synchronized diving will be a challenge for us, but that doesn’t mean we will do nothing. On the contrary, we should do our best to qualify,” Chandiryan noted.
The divers can also try to qualify for Tokyo 2020 in the World Cup, which will take place at the beginning of 2020. Winners of 1-4 places in synchronized diving and 1/8 finalists in individual diving will qualify for the Olympics.
“As a coach, I can say that my athletes can provide 3 participants. We should do everything possible to achieve our goal,” he concluded.
