Armenian players find out their first opponents in Women’s World Chess C’ship

Women’s World Chess Championship 2018 kicks off today in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia.

Armenia will be represented by two players in the competition: Elina Danielyan and Lilit Mkrtchyan.

Danielyan, due to start on November 3, will face Hoang Thanh of Hungary. The Armenian will play with the black pieces.

Lilit Mkrtchyan’s opponent is Anna Ushenina (Ukraine), who will be playing with the white pieces.

The knock-out tournament in Khanty-Mansiysk features 64 participants. Elina Danielyan is ranked at 35 and Mkrtchyan – at 41.
