Armenia’s freestyle wrestlers to compete in Vladikavkaz tournament

“Alans” freestyle wrestling tournament will take place in Vladikavkaz on November 18-19. Eleven countries, including Armenia, will have representatives in the competition.

Head coach of the Armenia team Habetnak Kurghinyan told Mediamax Sport that Armenia will send 7 athletes to “Alans”: Garik Barseghyan, Mkhitar Grigoryan (65kg), Vaghinak Matevosyan (61kg), Valodya Frangulyan (65kg), Varuzhan Kajoyan (74kg), Hovhannes Mkhitaryan, and Sargis Hovsepyan (86kg).

“Alans” prize fund is USD 80,000. The winner in each weight category will get USD 5000, runner-up will be awarded USD 2000 and the bronze medalist will take USD 1000.

The team will perform under assistant coach Edgar Yenokyan, as Kurghinyan is preparing the U23 team to the World Championship in Poland (November 21-26).
