The European Junior and U23 Weightlifting Championships are taking place in Durres, Albania. The competition is currently among U20 athletes, in the 85kg category.
Armenia is represented by two weightlifters in the category: Davit Hovhannisyan and Karen Avagyan.
Hovhannisyan was successful in all three attempts at snatch and took the silver in that exercise, lifting 158kg. Avagyan had worse luck and only completed two attempted, taking bronze for snatch with 156kg.
In clean and jerk, Hovhannisyan won silver with 185kg and Avagyan only completed the first attempt, finishing the 6th with 183kg.
Davit Hovhannisyan with overall result of 343kg became silver medalist and Avagyan with 339kg took the 4th place.
