"Boxing teaches to think, not fight. It is a union of thought and strength.”

Retired Olympic champion Vladimir Yengibaryan started the training sessions of his athletes with these words. Before getting the young boxers into good physical shape, he prepared them mentally.

This edition of Mediamax Sport’s In One Shot series is dedicated to the picture of Yengibaryan’s personal items.

The museum of the Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture keeps plenty of interesting exhibitions. Gold winner of the Melbourne Olympics Vladimir Yengibaryan has an individual section there.

The famous boxer donated one of his gloves to the museum. The section also features his certificate of coaching and an award Yengibaryan received at an international tournament.

Vladimir Yengibaryan boasts 255 wins out of 267 fights he had during his career.

“I have never been knocked out. Not once in my career. Look at my face: there are no scars. My hands, on the contrary, saw injuries, because I was the one beating the opponent,” Yengibaryan commented once on his achievements.
