On 24 April 2011, Vic Darchinyan won yet another fight in USA and retained the belt of IBO champion.

This issue of In One Shot series by Mediamax Sport tells about those very important day and fight.

Vic Darchinyan faced Yonnhy Perez in Los Angeles’s Nokia Theater. He came out into the ring with “1915” printed on his shorts. It became clear in the first minutes that the Armenian boxer wanted to knock out his opponent. One of Darchinyan’s mighty blows was indeed too much for Perez to take on his feet, and he knocked down.

The fight lasted 5 rounds, and then the referee stopped it as the Colombian boxer’s brow got split.

During the press conference, Darchinyan stated he dedicated his victory to the memory of innocent victims of Armenian Genocide. He later took part in the Los Angeles march, also dedicated to the Genocide.

“April 24, the remembrance day of the victims of Armenian Genocide, holds a special place in the lives of all my compatriots. I wanted everyone to feel how motivated I was to win this fight,” Darchinyan said.
