Julia Dujmovits: “I like myself and my body and I show it”

Austrian snowboarder Julia Dujmovits became Olympic champion in women’s parallel slalom just 2 months ago.

Snowboarding captivated Dujmovits when she was only nine and was on vacations with her family.

That’s when she appeared on the snowboard for the first time, and it was love at first swing. It was then followed by snowboard weekends throughout Austria with the sports club Red Hot Chili Güssing. Dujmovits participated in her first races when she was 11, and first successes led directly to the Austrian Ski Federation. She took part in the World Cupwhen she was only 15. Success started to follow her from that moment.

This week’s sport beauty has her own life motto.“Style is a way of life. Never forget to wear a smile”.

-Julia, Sochi Olympics were very successful for you and you returned home as an Olympic champion. Which moments will you never forget from Sochi 2014?

-Four years of ups and downs stand behind this Olympic victory. I’ve always remained on my path with determination and stubbornness and a strong team in the background. I had set myself the aim of achieving “Olympic gold” and worked on it in a very focused way.
I had “FOCUS” written on my right snowboard glove and “LINE” on the left. One of the most moving moments was certainly the award ceremony in Sochi. The celebration was taking place at the Austria Tirol House and being there on that day together with all the other medalists was great fun.

-So let’s summarize your appearances in Sochi. Which qualities made you the best in snowboarding competition?

Sport is just extremely much fun and it gives me energy – even after brutally strenuous training sessions. My career principle is: “What does not challenge you will not change you”.  I have turned my passion into a career. Every day I do what I love to do: exhaust myself and snowboard quickly in winter.

-Sochi Olympic is history anymore. Are you already moving forward or still enjoying your rest?

The last weeks were filled with PR dates, photo shoots, TV shoots... All of them were cool, but also very exhausting experiences. Now I am looking forward to the USA, state Hawaii. From late April to early July I’m doing my pre-season training on Maui. For me it is the best training island of all.

-Olympic gold medal, fame… Are there other sport dreams you would like to realize?

-Professional sport and the Olympic medal were the preparation for all that I want to do now. Through my sport I’ve experienced so many positive things. Now it’s high time that I gave. I want to make young people feel the sport and all the joy of life I have received through sport. Together with my team I am currently working on a concept to inspire children and to spark enthusiasm for movement.

-A woman is beautiful, when…

-She enjoys what she does. In this case, her beauty is guaranteed.

-Photo shoots for different magazines. What is the message you try to pass through them?

-I like myself and my body and I show it.

-It is obvious that snow is your most favorite thing, but are there any non winter sports you admire?

-Kitesurfing, surfing, hiking, slacklining, cycling – I can perfectly combine all of them on Maui.

-The most surprising thing you have heard of Armenian sports.

-I’ve heard that your ski resorts are best kept secrets and that there is a type of snow on the mountains that cannot be found anywhere else in Europe.

-Julia. Congratulations! I would like to inform you this week you are named Mediamax Sport’s “Sport Beauty of the week”.

-Thanks a lot. I would like to wish your readers the following – just make it happen. You can also follow me on social networks (Facebook , Instagram , Twitter and YouTube ).
