It was a hard-won victory over Benfica for Manchester United. The Champions League group stage game in Lisbon ended 0-1, marking United’s third successive win in the competition.

Marcus Rashford scored the only goal of the game. In the 64th minute, he took a smart free kick and the Portuguese goalkeeper, 18-year-old Mile Svilar made a poor catch, taking the ball over the goal line.

The English club currently leads group A with 9 points.

“We were always in control. I never felt that we could concede a goal, we were very solid defensively. To be good defensively is one step to get results. We have nine points, we are basically one point from qualifying and one victory away from winning the group,” said Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.
