UEFA President Michel Platini arrived in Armenia yesterday on a non-official visit.

Answering Mediamax Sport correspondent’s question during the short meeting with journalists at the Football Academy, Platini said that there will be tougher competition in Euro 2016.

“The European Championship has expanded to include 24 teams. The number of hosting cities has also increased. There are good teams in Europe that will take part in the tournament,” said the UEFA President.

With regard to the increased number of teams, he stressed that the teams, which previously did not manage to advance to the final, now have more chances to make it.

By the decision of UEFA, 24 teams, instead of previous 16, will take part in Euro 2016 due in Paris.
